Kaan Sancaktar is an accordion player, composer and multi-instrumentalist who specializes in folk music from the Balkans, Anatolia and the Middle East. A seasoned improviser and versatile musician, Kaan excels in a range of styles and traditions and is passionate about folk music from around the world. Although primarily an accordionist, Kaan also plays several other folk instruments, including tanbur, baglama, oud, violin, ney, kaval and setar. An artist who is devoted to a deep immersion into the musical traditions that he practices, Kaan is also dedicated to learning, sharing and passing along traditional music knowledge as a way to bring people together.
